The Moelter Foundation has set aside 240 acres in a conservancy easement as of November 2003. The family farm is a natural wonder and is located just east of the Lake Geneva city limits on Highway 50. The Moelter family and the local Boy Scouts have spent countless hours removing invasive plants and trees in order to make the property accessible to others. The property includes several spring fed ponds, mature hardwood forests covering classic kettle moraine terrain, wetlands, prairie and miles of hiking trails. Like Yellowstone National Park, planned infrastructure is necessary for the public to enjoy and access nature. We have constructed 2 pavilions as shelter for our guests.
We have added a Youth Learning Center built next to the main shelter. This new building will be used as a main learning hub for the youth in our community and surrounding areas. Our foundation saw the need to teach our community, through its youth, about conservation, wildlife and ecology. As a responsible community entity, this is part of our civic duty. We at the Moelter Foundation saw the need for a project like this so we did it.
To date, all building and financial projects have been paid for with private donations. For this new Youth Center we raised the necessary funds to enclose the shell and pour a concrete floor, but we are still in need of much money to finish the interior. As additional donations come in we will insulate the building, add a furnace, add showers and indoor plumbing.
All of the projects undertaken to date by our foundation are done without debt. Your consideration of a donation would be very appreciated.
