We have been taking baby steps in building our foundation: In September 2006 we received   tax-free status from the IRS and became a     501 (c) (3) charitable foundation.
In March 2004 leaders of Troop 239 found us and fell in love with our beautiful property.       In June 2007 Troop 239 had their first Family Camp.
Everyone was delighted to have their family fun at our ponds, in our woods and in a wide-open field, beckoning for kite-flying.
We had our first flag-retirement ceremony that same week-end.
Since then we built a large shelter with weather curtains, a well and electric.
So our facilities presently are year-round running water, electricity,  and porta-potties.
In 2011 we built a pond shelter and installed a windmill to aerate the pond.
In August 2012 the pond shelter was the recipient of a solar panel – compliments of an Eagle Scout project. To the right is the photo of the lit-up shelter. You can also see the silhouette of the windmill.
By December 2015 the  shell of the Youth Center was closed in.A wonderful donor generously paid for a concrete floor. The walls are still unfinished. Donations toward finishing this building gratefully accepted.

Our History:
In 1948 Bruno Moelter Sr. and his son Charles Moelter Sr. bought 550 acres from the Homans: brothers John and Joe, their sister Maggie and niece Julia.
A little more than 100 years earlier, on March 25, 1841 Patrick Powers bought the first 160 acres and thereby homesteaded this property. He hired a brickmaker and had the original farmhouse built.
Charles Moelter Sr. farmed all 550 acres himself from 1950 - 55, when a devastating fire destroyed the huge historic barn in August 1955. Over the years 300 acres on the north side of State Road 50 were sold. All that remained of the original farm house are the ruins, following another devastating fire on Dec 14, 1980. Sadly in January 2015 the Township ordered us to raze our historic farm house.
Wishing to protect the beauty of the property forever and preserve the Moelter name on it, Charles Sr put all 240 acres into the Conservation Easement in November 2003 and  later created the Moelter Foundation LTD.

Charles SR died July 12, 2020  R.I.P. Charlie         We will continue to honor your wishes and carry  on in your spirit.
